HiTECH
now offers THE
VEGAPULS RADAR SYSTEM, a
new family of economical, non-contact, two-wire
radar level transmitters,
designed for use in process control.
For
many years the processing industry has recognized that Radar
had the potential to solve a variety of level measurement applications that
are difficult or impossible using other technologies.
However,
Radar was both too
expensive and too cumbersome to apply.
Non-contact
measurement of liquids and solids
under
harsh industrial process conditions

Principle of Operation
Extremely short microwave impulses with low
emitted power in the C-band and K-band frequency range are emitted by the
antenna system to the measured product, reflected by the product surface and
received again by the antenna system. They spread with light velocity and the
time from the emission to receipt of the signals is proportional to the level in
the vessel. A special time spreading procedure enables a reliable and precise
measurement of extremely short time periods.
Latest microprocessor technology and the proven ECHOFOX® software select the
level echo reliably from a number of false reflections and the echo is measured
exactly.
By simply entering the vessel dimensions, a level-proportional signal can be
displayed. An adjustment with emptied and filled vessel is no longer necessary!
Unaffected by temperature and pressure
The spreading of microwaves is virtually not
affected by the ambient temperature and ambient pressure. Radar sensors are
ideal for use under arduous process conditions. Pressures from vacuum to 160 bar
and temperatures between -40 and 400°C are no problem for a radar level
measurement.
Unaffected by product properties
Fluctuating product compositions or complete
changes of the product do not influence the measurement result. A new adjustment
is not necessary.

| VEGAPULS
40 sensors has narrow emission cone with high antenna gain
providing higher accuracy while minimizing false reflections from
mechanical obstructions and vessel walls.
In addition, the
very small antennas enable better use of the vessel volume as due
to the very short impulses, a measurement up to the antenna edge
is possible. |
VEGAPULS
50 with its lower operating frequency, is better suited to operate
in agitated liquids as well is processes involving severe
foam. |
